Chattanooga: Man charged in shooting has court appearance next week

The man charged in connection with Tuesday afternoon’s shooting on Jackson Street is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County General Sessions Court on Tuesday in Judge Clarence Shattuck’s court room.

Tony Valieno Raines, 46, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting that left 19-year-old Pierre Horton in critical condition with a gun shot wound to his head, officials said Tuesday.

Officials say the two men were fighting prior to the shooting.

In 2005, Mr. Raines pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft. Six year earlier, he pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing.

Mr. Horton pleaded guilty in 2006 to felony robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison, but subsequently was placed on probation, according to court records.
