Tennessee Valley Authority set to OK deals for nuclear fuel

The Tennessee Valley Authority is scheduled today to approve $1.15 billion in contracts for nuclear fuel supplies for its atomic reactors over the next decade.

The TVA board will vote on a $400 million contract with Areva NP for blended low enrichment uranium processing services through 2019, a $350 million contract with Denison Mines to supply uranium concentrates from 2012 to 2017, $250 million for Cameco to supply uranium hexafluroide from 2013 to 2018, and a $150 million contract with Westinghouse for fuel fabrication services for Watts Bar Unit 2.
