Cleveland: Child injured by hit-and-run driver

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run that left a 3-year-old in Bradley County injured Friday night at 2180 Old Harrison Pike NW in Cleveland, Tenn.

Laura McPherson, Tennessee Department of Safety spokesperson, said Saturday investigators are still searching for the vehicle, a red and white Chevy pickup truck.

A call to the number listed for that address was not returned.

“The 3-year-old was struck and dragged, and the vehicle never stopped according to the witness. The child was taken to Erlanger hospital with severe head trauma,” Ms. McPherson said in a statement.

“The vehicle is described as a red and white Chevy pickup truck, early ’90s model, it is extended or crew cab, not sure which,” the statement said. “The vehicle should have either front headlight or turning light damage to it. There may also be a large white or silver stripe down the side of the truck.”

No description was available on the driver of the vehicle.

Officials ask those with information to contact the Tennessee Highway Patrol at (615) 215-5131.
